I had a good laugh today when I went to the mailbox and found my "OT Practice" Magazine and the headline article was titled "Combating Moral Distress". The several page article discussed how prevalent "moral distress" is in the OT arena because of expectations for productivity and how people handle it. I found it interesting that 38% of people polled stated that they left a job because of "moral distress", specifically in relation to documentation, billing, and reimbursement, 62% were exploring other employment opportunities.
I spoke to HR today at my potential new place of employment and hope to be getting the ball rolling soon. If all goes well, orientation will begin Tuesday.
