...Just don't!
I knew today might be challenging- after all- we had too easy of a day yesterday:
We got to infant massage on time and Cam actually participated in the class rather than snacking under the nursing cover the whole time, and we made it to our appointment after class on time- and I had time to feed the little guy!
Yesterday Cam was weighed again and he is growing great- He's gone from 6 pounds 15 ounces two weeks ago to 8 pounds 2 ounces! This puts him in the 30th percentile for his weight and age. I thought his diapers were getting a little small! He has grown an inch as well (from 21 to 22). Everything else was great too- the doctor was very happy. We are so blessed with a healthy, happy baby.
Well, that brings us to today:
Teddy has had a little (I mean a lot) pent up energy lately, so I knew today had to be a dog park day even if I wasn't ready for it. We got up bright and early with Daddy at 7:15 and got ready for the day in order to run an errand near the park and be able to leave Teddy in the car briefly while it was cooler out. I realized Cam had a dirty diaper and should have changed it in that parking lot because Teddy yaps very annoyingly non-stop until we go inside the park when we arrive to the dog park lot. Cam was already strapped into his seat though, so I drove on, knowing what I was getting myself into. We got to the park and sure enough Teddy began yapping. I quickly tried to gather my stuff together (stroller, nursing cover just in case, a diaper, and some wipes) rather than just bringing the whole diaper bag. Believe me, we've tried ignoring the behavior but the yapping just doesn't stop, so we just have to get out of the car as quickly as possible! We rushed into the park so I could let Teddy loose and off he ran! I found a shady spot to change Cam in the stroller and got to work- boy was it dirty! I kept him covered while trying to put a clean diaper on and keep the other dogs in the park from coming up and licking the little guy and then it happened- old faithful showed up- again, and again, and again- soaking the stroller, his whole outfit, and almost soaking his one clean diaper. I was tempted to just pack up our stuff and leave, but I just couldn't handle bringing Teddy home without getting some energy out of him! I wiped Cam down head to toe with wipes as he shrieked and put the new diaper on and put my naked baby under my nursing cover to eat. That's when Teddy decided to start yapping at the other people/dogs in the park. I could tell they were annoyed so I started hunting around the park for a ball to throw for him while nursing Cam. No balls to be found! Finally, I found one lone ball and began to throw the ball as far as I could into the water so it would take him a while to come back (all the while my nursing cover is flapping in the wind- eek!) We get into our routine of fetch and Cam is unphased by it all thankfully. Cam finishes eating and I put him in the carrier to go for a walk in the woods (fenced in for 1 mile) so that people wouldn't judge me for having a naked baby at the park, haha. He was all snuggled up and off we went! We walked the mile and then all of a sudden, Teddy was missing. I spent the next 30 minutes calling for Teddy. Finally he came running out of the woods- Cam and I were sweating and ready to go home. I washed Teddy off, put some clothes on Cam in the car, and headed home- I was starving and the three of us needed baths! Not that having my diaper bag nearby would have solved really any of the problems, but it would have been helpful! I am so thankful for such a laid back baby, as I have quite the toddler and teenager all rolled into one dog in Teddy. I am happy to say we are all bathed and fed and no worse for the wear- just a little tired! Do I dare run out to do more pre-deployment errands this afternoon?

1 Month Old!
It is hard to believe our little boy is 1 month old! We enjoyed celebrating Josh's birthday this past weekend and Cameron's baptism. Cameron is really growing up! He is beginning to track visually and definitely to voices. He is a great eater and is definitely growing bigger!

A sweet gift from the Nosals- It will go perfectly in the nursery!

Laughter is the best medicine
Motherhood has been more humbling than I could have imagined- in a good way though. Not in a tail between my legs kind of way, rather, I am humbled and enlightened and move on having learned something new!
Many days I find myself getting to the end of the day and asking myself "what did I do with my day?!" I know full well I have done plenty, it's just not the kind of day I'm used to- and I like it!
We are getting into somewhat of a routine here- and by routine, I mean I'm trying to figure out how long it takes me to shower or have breakfast in between feedings! I love that we are learning how Cameron likes things and how he doesn't like things. For example, we have struggled to make bathtime and changing times pleasant for him. But he's telling us what he likes and doesn't like-he just has a different way of communicating!
Two years ago when we were thinking about starting a family I shared with Josh one morning that I had a dream about pushing a stroller, wearing stretch pants, and carrying a latte. He laughed and refers to it often. Especially because a few months later, as I was exploring our new neighborhood with Teddy, I had the closest thing to that and it wasn't too glamorous- I was wearing the stretch pants and carrying the latte, but walking a dog who pulled every direction and spilled my latte all over the sidewalk while trying to pick up poop and then lost the leash when I was trying to take a "for sale" flyer out of a bin on the street! When I got home I just had to laugh and tell him how it went.
....Well, today I had one of those days. I had my day all planned out- a nice, long walk in the morning, followed by some productive "to-do's", attending an infant massage class at 2, followed by a Dr's appointment and errands on base. \
This is how the day really unfolded:
A nice, hot/muggy walk, followed by Cameron deciding he wanted to eat every hour instead of every 2...then I'm not sure where the rest of the morning went but I do remember eating my lunch standing over the sink before rushing out the door to get to infant massage class early so that I could nurse cam before the class began. Well, I showed up to the class early and tried very hard to wake him up to eat (after all, it had been 2 hours and he had been eating every hour!) and couldn't get him awake, class starts and all of the babies are undressed for the massage class and Cam begins wailing in hunger. Cam enjoyed a nice 40 minute snack throughout the entire class :). We proceeded to rush to the appointment we were going to be late for only to find out the doctor was running late. Cameron was still hungry, so I decide to start feeding him- 2 minutes later they call me back to take my vitals! There I am, sitting on the table trying to relax to have my BP taken while Cameron and I are both sweating and beat red from rushing around and Cameron is happily nursing away...then the dr. walks in and proceeds to freeze warts off of my foot (while having me stick my foot way up high in the air as I continue to nurse). He leaves the room and I have Cameron in my arms and one shoe off with a very sore foot. I of course didn't bring the stroller in my rushing and decided now would be a good time to change cam while I had a private room. I hopped off the table on one foot and hopped around the room with Cam gathering my things. I placed him on the plinth to change him (still on one foot) and despite my best efforts to keep him covered, old faithful began to squirt all over Cameron's outfit, into his eye, and onto me. I furiously tried to clean up (still on one foot) and began ripping the plinth paper. Thank goodness for Nanna's suggestion to always have an extra outfit in the diaper bag! So, there we were- both sweating still- covered in pee now, both frustrated (Cam screaming and me still hopping around on one foot in pain). I finally grabbed my sock and shoe to put it on, placed Cam in my Ergo carrier, and walked out the door as if nothing had happened- HA! So much for my errands! All that said, we came home to see Daddy for a few hours before he had to go flying all night and that made the rest of the cares of the day melt away. Honestly, I had to laugh, as I could tell the day just wasn't going to go MY way :). Humbling indeed.

Man's Best Friend
Man and little man, that is :)
Cameron will be 3 weeks old tomorrow night! Time sure flies!

Mommy and Cameron resting on Mother's day- it was a wonderful day. Whit loved spending the whole day with her 4 boys- Josh, Edgar, Ted, and Cam.

Cam has his daddy's good looks and seems to have many of his interests too- already an animal/Teddy lover, loves to sleep, doesn't like bath time, or changing clothes ;).

Couldn't have staged this if we tried. Three photogenic men!

"Mommy's little man"- this is the onesie we put on him on Mother's day after he spit up on his cute church outfit just before walking out the door!

Eat, Sleep, Poop...Poop....and more Poop.
Yep, that's right, Cameron goes through at least 15 diapers a day! All systems appear to be working!
Cameron had his two week well baby visit yesterday and he is right on track. He is back to his birthweight (6 pounds 15 ounces), which is what the doctor was hoping for. The doctor was also very impressed how much he could raise his head off the table....bring on the tummy time! His startle reflex was also particularly strong- maybe he gets that from his Mom (only kidding ;)).
On the homefront, Cam and mommy and daddy have been doing lots of snuggling and Cam has been doing lots of eating and pooping! He can't stay full long during the day- he's one hungry hippo (a skinny little hippo I guess!) At night he is doing better with letting us wake him up to eat every 3 hours. He still amazes us though- he eats and then goes right back down into the bassinett without a peep unless he's still hungry. One thing for sure Cameron does not like is diaper changes! Boy does he have a set of lungs on the changing table. It's amazing though, the second I hold him close to my chest he does a little tremble and calms down- boy does he have me wrapped around his fingers and toes :). Cameron is learning to like bath time and tummy time. He enjoys it about 75% of the time. He also really loves riding in the stroller in the mornings, riding in the car, and staying close to mommy in the moby wrap. Surprisingly, so far he isn't too fond of his swing. Time will tell!
Next week mommy and Cam will attend an infant massage class- we'll see how he likes it! He seems to like having lotion put on his legs and arms!
We have been so well cared for in the last two weeks by family and friends. We have received so many incredible home cooked meals and help along the way. It really has been such a blessing!
Cameron has brought more joy to our lives than we could have ever imagined. He sweet little eyes are all it takes to just melt into the couch and stare at him some more in awe of God's masterpiece.
Praise be to God!
