Heidi has been through a lot lately with her health and has not been able to work for a few months. On the eve of her return to work I lay awake with a fever and the flu, yet all I could keep thinking about were the videos we have of Heidi around the age of 3 or 4 walking around my parents old braided rug (over and over again) during her Sunday mornings spent with our nanny Angela (she had to stay away from the germs at church after her bonemarrow transplant) as she sang along to worship songs. One particular song she repeatedly sang (and made many appropriate gestures with) was "Deep and Wide" (...there's a fountain flowing deep and wide...)
I reflected on the many burdens she has had to bear throughout the years (thanks be to God, not on her own), and I reflected on the inumerable provisions of God in her life. While it is a fairly simple song, I just kept singing to myself "Deep and wide...yes Lord, your provisions for Heidi have been deep and wide...and Lord, I believe they will continue to be deep and wide!"
I am encouraged by Ephesians 3:14-19 (NLT)...
... 14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,[e] 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.[f] 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is (emphasis mine). 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
