Fire Drills

This is what we have to say about fire drills that go on for an hour:

(can you see the red beady eyes??)

Oh dear...I hope he doesn't expect me to give him food to console him...

Josh's unwavering focus the first 10 minutes...

...And then comes the reaction the other two of us had (Edgar and I).."This is making me crazy!"

Edgar the Everything Eater

Every time I walk in the general direction of the kitchen (which also happens to be the direction of the front door, bathroom, and our bedroom- so basically every time I get up from my desk) Edgar wiggles his nose up in the air like this and lets out a few squeaks (just in case I didn't know he was there ;)).

Edgar and I have had a little bit of cabin fever lately :) here are some videos of us (me behind the camera) passing the time ;) If you hear drilling in the background that's just a small portion of what we listen to every day these days (they are demolishing the parking garage under our building). It's quite annoying after listening to it 9 hours a day (for the last 3 weeks).

Edgar's idea of exercise

Me taunting Edgar with a piece of my apple...how mean! Edgar likes reminders of Fall just as much as I do.

Edgar also endured his second fire drill yesterday (his first one in this building). It was quite traumatic. When I started to smell smoke I thought I should bring him with me, so I put him in his carrier, and then, of course, the alarm stopped! Thank goodness Edgar and I didn't have to huff and puff all the way down 10 flights of stairs ;).

On another note, Josh flew for the first time in the evening last night. He landed 5 times (twice without any lights on- eek!) Today he flies to New Jersey for a "cross country" with his instructor. Within the next week he should be finishing his flight training for now. He will finish his traning with a final cross country flight independently.

As for me, I am chugging along working on my research and other classwork. It is so exciting that I have a list of the assignments I have left to do- and once that list is completed- I'm done! Kind of scary at the same time, I suppose :). I have also had a few phone interviews (mostly with skilled nursing facilities in Pensacola).

Well, that's all for now! Love to all :)

Green BEANS and Onion goggles!

Well, most of you know about our dear guinea pig Edgar...and many of you have had the great pleasure of meeting him...but he hasn't made too much of an appearance on our blog, so we thought we'd give him an opportunity to show you how much he really loves his green beans! Click on video to see our cutie in action underneath the coffee table :).

I also thought I'd post some fun pictures from hanging out with Luke and Erika lately. Erika laughed at me when she saw I had onion goggles (yes, they REALLY work!) until she realized how much she needed them when I asked her to dice some shallots hehe.....

We also have enjoyed playing a new card/word game (kinda like text twist) with my mom and Luke and Erika on various occasions...it's called Quiddler!

Stay posted for pics of the 5k race we're going to run (Josh, myself, Luke, and Erika) next Saturday! We will be sad to see Luke and Erika move to CA....we sure do have a lot of fun with them :)
