House Hunting

Well, Josh and I thought we would start looking into houses to rent in Florida to see what kind of price range we were looking at. We were pleasantly surprised by a really neat website called www.militarybyowner.com. It allows you to look at homes for rent or sale by military personnel near the base you will be reporting to. We contacted a few property managers and have had great success so far. We really like one potential house (to rent, not buy...no worries!) in a new subdivision called "the Floridian". It's on a cul-de-sac in the corner, has a fenced in back yard, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a nice kitchen, etc etc. The property manager and owner seem very nice and have sent us some great pics....the place looks a little empty now...but we could do something about that with all of our nice wedding gifts :). Josh is allowed to have 10 days of "house hunting" leave, so we are hoping to go down to FL soon to check the place out.

Tuesday I went to a "space-A" seminar which talked about flying on military flights standby for free. It sounds very appealing but is not too reliable. Apparently a really good time to fly is from October up until Christmas...so we are hoping to hop on one of these planes to Pensacola (not a direct flight with the military planes). Right now apparently is a very busy time to catch a plane through "space A"- 275 active duty personnel were trying to fly out on Tuesday night (from BWI airport in Baltimore). Eek! Good news for us though is that active duty personnel (that would be Josh) and their families on house hunting leave have 2nd level priority (next to people on emergency leave).

P.S. Leave = vacation days or time off
